Coming Up in the Community

Want to see more of your local community and meet more of the people who live in your area?

The city of Leeds has fantastic community spirit and there is always something going on which you can go along to and have a great time!  


 
 The Beeston Festival

 

 Why not head out of Hyde Park and Headingley this  June to enjoy one of the best community events of  the year?

 Supported by Leeds University Union's very own  Leeds RAG, the event is an exciting and  entertaining day filled with local music, food and  drink! 

 It's just five minutes away on the train if you're  heading from the train station in the city centre and  is well worth the trip for one of the highlights in the  Leeds calendar!

Date and time: Saturday 11th June, 12-5pm
Location: Cross Flatts Park , Beeston LS11!

 

Unity Day - Hyde Park

 

Hyde Park Unity Day is an 11 hour day, celebrating the people, culture and community of LS6 that has been around since 1996.

On Unity Day Woodhouse Moor takes on a personality of its own with a whole host of community stalls and entertainment. Expect sport competitions, artists, bands, breakdancers and even bingo callers! The day has something for everyone and if you live in LS6 it's pretty much on your doorstep! What more could you want?

The date hasn't been announced yet so look out for posters around Hyde Park in the weeks to come!

Location: Woodhouse Moor (Hyde Park), LS6
Date and time: TBA - 12pm - 3pm, 3pm - 7pm (after-party).

 

 

The Kirkstall Festival

 

 

This year the Kirkstall Festival will be held in the beautiful grounds of the 12th Century Kirkstall Abbey. The Festival is said to be the largest community festival in Leeds run entirely by volunteers. Last year attracted around 15,000 people. It is not a Rock Festival, or a county show, but an event that will entertain people of all ages with events including:

  • Fairground
  • Over 100 stalls
  • Youth Stage
  • Tea Dance
  • 8 performance areas
  • Comedy; Rock, Classical, Jazz and Light music
  • Food and Drink
  • Procession
  • Displays, including: Cheerleaders; Birds of Prey;
  • Local Information: Kirkstall Valley Park; Kirkstall Vision; Kirkstall Forge; Kirkstall District Centre Schools.

 

Don't miss out and take part in a great community day!

Headingley Farmers Market

 

Want to support your local farmers and members of your local community? Then what better way to do it then by buying tasty and organic produce?

You can pick up everything from organic vegetables to smoothies, free-range eggs to jam, and not forgetting meat, fish, cheese and bread!

All products sold are local and sold by the producer and you even get the chance to see a performance by the West Yorkshire Brass Band. What more could you want?!
