Motion Name:
Should LUU expand the current facilities of the Peanut Gallery
--------------------------
Motion Category:
Activities, Strong & Active Union

Word Count: 243

This Union Notes

1 - That the Peanut Gallery is an open space for all LUU members, and is the only student-run non-commercial space on campus

2 - That the Peanut Gallery is the sole provider of a number of facilities for students in the Union, such as kitchen facilities and a piano for general use

3 - That the Peanut Gallery is used by an increasingly large number of LUU societies, other student groups and individuals on a daily basis

4 - That the schedule is often overbooked due to the popularity of the space, leading to overheating, meetings taking place in the corridors outside the Peanut Gallery, and cancellation of events

This Union Believes:

1 - That LUU should have as much space as possible available to societies and groups to run their events in a comfortable, accommodating and inclusive environment.

2 - That in being an open, inclusive and non-commercial space, the Peanut Gallery offers an alternative to other spaces in the Union

3 - That a larger space, or additional space, would benefit more members of the Union

This Union Resolves:

1 - To mandate the Community Officer to investigate the possibility of providing more space for the Peanut Gallery

2 - To mandate the Community Officer to investigate allocation of resources to the new space

3 - To improve signage directing people to the the current Peanut Gallery, and any new space provided

4 - To carry out Resolves 1, 2 and 3 in consultation with Peanut Gallery users.
