The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that:
"A Leeds property boss who was stripped of his rental licenses has been arrested, the YEP can reveal.
Student landlord Tariq Zaman, 41, was held on suspicion of fraud and money laundering . Zaman, of Manor Drive, Headingley, was a former boss of Providence Porperties with house in Hyde Park and Headingley.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "A 41-year-old Leeds man was arrested on February 2 on suspicion of money laundering and fraud by false representation and is currently on police bail pending further enquiries."
Tariq Zaman individually lets properties as an independent landlord and as stated had involvement in Providence Properties which has now been renamed as The Student Property Shop.
We strongly advise you to only rent from a landlord who is part of a code or accreditation scheme; neither the Student Property Shop nor Mr Tariq Zaman are part of any such schemes. In fact the Student Advice Centre is still dealing with substantial claims against Mr Tariq Zaman for unpaid deposits.
Remember to get your contract checked at the Student Advice Centre before you sign up.
