Democracy at LUU

As a student union, we're a democractic organisation.  Decisions are made by students directly, or by the people they elect to represent them.

Representation

You are represented by the following people:

Student Executive

An elected body of six full-time sabbatical officers who represent you to the University and more broadly in the community.

Find out more about your Student Executive officers here.

Union Council

32 elected councillors sit on Union Council, making decisions on LUU policy.

Find out more about Union council here.

Assemblies

Assemblies make decisions on specific areas of responsibility.

Find out more about Assemblies here.

Course Reps & Faculty Reps

Course Reps and Faculty Reps represent your interests within you department/faculty, ensuring that student needs are met when decisions are made.

Find out more about Course Reps here

Make a change

If you want to change something, you can do so in a number of ways.

  1. Use Your Comments to let us know about small issues, and we'll guarantee you a response
  2. Speak to one of your representatives, listed above
  3. Submit a motion to Referendum for other students to vote on
  4. Start a campaign to raise awareness and encourage change
