So far there's been a total of 15 thefts of capture bikes, 6 from Leeds University and 9 from Leeds Met. Each theft has resulted in an arrest and the offender being charged and sent to court.
Since the capture bike scheme started in October last year, both universities have seen a significant reduction in thefts of bikes on all campuses. As a result of the success of this project, the police have been able to identify offenders coming onto campus from outside the areas where most students live to commit crime.
