Foundation UK is a charity that aims to end social exclusion. Foundation has nearly 30 years of experience in helping vulnerable young people, the homeless and ex-offenders settle in housing and to integrate into society. The charity is in the process of setting up a social enterprise to give real life work experience to service users to help them secure long term employment.
Volunteering opportunity: marketing and design partner within emerging social enterprise
The volunteers will take a leading role in developing the marketing and design of the social enterprise and its products. Key tasks include designing a logo, branding products, developing a marketing strategy and designing and developing a website. As a volunteer you can pick and choose which elements of the project you want to be involved with. This is a creative role with lots of scope for volunteers to input their own ideas.
The social enterprise exists to empower the charity’s customers and there will be an opportunity to meet with the charity’s customers and develop their ideas through workshop facilitation and coaching customers with design skills.
Skills:
Volunteers should be able to be creative and develop a concept within a team. It would be useful if volunteers have an existing knowledge of design programmes such as Photoshop, or skills in web design and development.
Volunteers will gain business acumen and commercial awareness. You will be able to develop skills in project management and team working, as well as having the opportunity to learn to influence senior stakeholders and coach people to develop their skills.
Commitment:
Flexible, depending on the tasks the volunteer chooses to take up. It is likely to be 3-4 hours per week.
