Heart Research UK, a national charity based in Leeds, organise a number of fundraising events throughout the summer:

 

Walk for All: Peak District Walk

The Peak District Walk is a brand new event for 2012, with breath taking views across some of the Peak District’s most iconic landscapes. Heart Research UK is a partner charity of the Walk for All Series.

We need 20 volunteers to support the logistics and running of this event which will include seeing a large volume of participants pass through safety checkpoints.You’ll be finished by 2pm so you can enjoy the spectacular scenery.

When:      Sunday 29 April 2012

Timings:   Approximately 8:30am – 2pm

Where:     Edale, Peak District National Park

 

Love your Heart; Ladies Pamper Evening

Our ladies pamper evening is always a really great evening, attracting women to come and have their nails, hair and make-up done as well as do a little bit of shopping at our stalls and enjoy a great fashion show. We need volunteers to help with the logistics and running of this event as well as people to model the beautiful clothing range for our fashion show.

When:      Monday 14 May 2012

Timings:   Approximately 4pm–9pm

Where:     Leeds City Centre

 

Great Yorkshire Bike Ride

The Great Yorkshire bike ride is an annual event when approximately 1,500 hardy participants take part in a bike ride from Wetherby to Filey in order to raise money for the organiser’s partners charities including Heart Research UK.

We need 10 volunteers to act as marshalls at this event.

When:       Saturday 16 June 2012

Where:      Terrington (near Castle Howard)

 

 

Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

The Yorkshire Three Peaks is Heart Research UK’s flagship fundraising event and each year hundreds of walkers take to the hills to walk 25 miles taking in three of the highest peaks in Yorkshire. For this event we need 20 volunteers to support with logistics and general running of the event on the day (expenses paid)

When:      Saturday 16 June 2012

Timings:   Approximately 7am – 5pm

Where:     Horton in Ribblesdale

                  

Walk for All: Yorkshire Dales Walking Festival

The Yorkshire Dales Walking Festival is the 2nd event in the Walk for All Series of which Heart Research UK is a partner charity.

We need 20 volunteers to support the logistics and running of this event which will include seeing a large volume of participants pass through safety checkpoints.

When:      Sunday 19 August 2012

Timings:   TBC

Where:     Settle, Yorkshire Dales National park

Skills

Volunteers will be able to gain experience working on large outdoor events, will be able to develop and demonstrate their communication skills, and will gain an insight into the charity sector.

 

Commitment

Volunteers can participate in as few or as many of Heart Research’s volunteering events as they would like.  Events take place on 29th April, 14th May, 16th June, and 19th August.

 

Travel expenses will be reimbursed for all events (public transport or mileage) and car shares from Leeds will be available for some events.
