This has been actioned as part of a large project of works to the front of the Union building in the spring of 2010. The University and the Union have worked together on a plan to re-shape Lifton Place to make it better for students by turning it into a pedestrianised area, with new green spaces, cycle lock ups, trees and seating.

Unfortunately, we’ve had to increase the prices of Divine chocolate due to an increase in cost price. However, we also now stock a different brand of fair trade chocolate at a lower price and have reduced the prices of other fair trade products by 20%.

Why does the Union offer plastic bags in the Union shops if it wants to reduce its environmental impact? Can’t they be replaced with re-usable bags?

We have replaced all plastic bags with three ‘Green’ options: ‘The Big Paper Bag’, ‘The Big Green Bag’ and ‘Cotton on to this’. These bags are made from paper, hessian and cotton and are priced from 20p to £2.49.
