The Purpose of Assemblies

To engage with the student body.

Take a look at the list of assembly groups below, see if there are any which represent your personal areas of interest. Look out for meetings or debates which take place throughout the year and get involved! If you don't like what you see, speak to the Student Executive Committee or the Campaigns and Democracy Support team upstairs in the Union building.

To actively campaign.

Assemblies can be used as a way of getting other students together to campaign about issues important to you. Speak to the Assembly Chair about any ideas or issues you want to propose.

To create a forum for discussion.

Assemblies provide a forum for lively debate on issues which have a direct impact the lives of members. Assemblies can make recommendations to Union Council regarding its Policies and what LUU should stand for.
