Re: Should the LUU reverse the ban on bottled water and give students the choice?

Surely we're not going to go on discussing this? Students made the choice to stop selling bottled water... surely we need to respect that choice by continuing with what was agreed on at that time.

If it turns out that it doesn't work, that's fine - but at least give it a chance!!!

Damned straight. This is a farce. Who actually put this new motion forward? As far as I can see this is only about one thing: money. Hopefully people will see right through it.

Re: Should the LUU reverse the ban on bottled water and give students the choice?

It is in the same vein as many motions at referendum and articles in Leeds Student in recent years, all of which have the express intent of furthering a nihilistic anti-political agenda. It is not that this sort of person disagrees with the political and/or ethical considerations of various motions and resolutions in LUU, it is that they oppose the very concept of political and/or ethical consideration.

As such, I disagree that it is about money; this sort of individual does not genuinely care about the monetary benefit that selling bottled water might bring to LUU. If they did, they would be committed to advocating the provision of any number of profit-making substances or items that harm humans and the planet, and not focussing down on the bottled water issue. It is spite alone that motivates the nihilist.

Please give specifics about the Leeds Student articles that you refer to.

Re: Should LUU reintroduce the sale of bottled water?

Don't want bottled water?

Don't buy bottled water.

Don't want to refill your bottle from the tap?

Buy bottled water.

It's as simple as that.

Why take away the choice from other students just because you don't want something? Okay it's good for the environment, but then what if you forget your bottle? Am I going to have to buy a bottle of sparkling water, empty it and refill it with still water?

I just don't LIKE water from those machines. I LIKE the taste and feel of bottled water, I LIKE feeling like i've just given 10 pints of a well and a merry-go-round to some village in Mozambique.

Stop imposing your views on other people.

Re: Should LUU reintroduce the sale of bottled water?

Agreed,

The first referenda was about choice.

What choice do I now have - and why am I going walk round with a bulky refillable bottle all day drinking manky tap water. I want the choice to buy bottled water - if we bring back bottled water and leave the fountains there is nothing to stop those who love the fountain to keep using the fountain and not drag the rest of us into it.
