Challenge yourself to the experience of a lifetime and climb Mt Kilimanjaro – the world’s highest freestanding mountain at a breathtaking 5,895m high.
Each year, Leeds RAG collaborate with Childreach to send over 80 participants to Tanzania and take part in this six day trek. The climb will take you through an array of terrains from jungles to barren expanses, from glaciers to near vertical scrambles. Whilst this is a physical challenge, the true test is of mental strength. Amongst other things to contend with, there is the fluctuating temperatures and altitude sickness. But the way to reach the top is through high team spirits and determination. The final summit starts at 11pm and you trek through the night with only head torches to light the way. As you emerge onto the summit, your hard work is paid off in time for the ultimate sunrise. The feeling as you stand at the highest point in Africa is indescribable – you’ll just have to take on the challenge and find out for yourself!
