We are now into the second Semester of the 2010/11 academic year. We have had various Societies fairs and events throughout the first semester and about 14,000 of you have joined LUU societies. If you are receiving this email, then our records show that you haven’t joined a society. I realise that if you’re not involved in a society, for whatever reason, you might not have the same opportunities to explore what else the Union and the University have on offer to students. Never fear though, even if you haven’t joined an LUU society there is still an awful lot that the Union and the University of Leeds has on offer to help you ‘Love your Time at Leeds’, and I have compiled a list of some of them below for you!
Student Executive
The Student Executive Officers are the six students who work full-time at the Union for a year, of which I am one (the Equality and Diversity officer). We are here to listen to how students want things to be done, and work with Union staff, the Board of Trustees and our partners to make it happen and to represent members to the University, external organisations and the community.
If you have any issues, or would like help or information about how to change things in the Union, University or City of Leeds then please get in touch. Either come into the Exec Office (Upstairs in the Union) or contact us via the details provided on the following link: www.leedsuniversityunion.org.uk/haveyoursay/studentexecutive/
We are voted into our roles by our fellow students each year in the annual Student Exec Elections. If you are interested in being one of the next Student Executive Officer then please visit: www.leedsuniversityunion.org.uk/elections/.
