1Dev is seeped in tradition and style. Whether it’s the Dev Summer Festivals, the Harry-Potter style dining halls, the long orchestral and performing tradition or whatever it is you’re looking for – you’ll probably find it at Dev. There's a great community spirit within the hall, a really active JCR (the student committee that organise activities), musical performances and lots more to get involved in all on site. Plus, it’s not far from the student areas of Headingley and Hyde Park and bus routes into town.

Lyddon Hall is pretty much slap bang in the middle of everything; just behind the Union, a stone’s throw from the Library as well as being near some of the other on-campus halls. You get to eat with all the other catered students in the Refectory, and you are only a 15 minute walk into the centre of town. Lyddon itself is quite sociable, with common rooms and an active Residents' Committee who plan events such as formal dinners and film evenings.

At Ellerslie, you can literally fall out of bed and be in a lecture within 5 minutes as you’re right on campus. Plus, you get to eat your breakfast and dinner in the Refec with loads of other students every day which means you don't have to bother with the hassle of cooking. In the Refec they also have termly formal events which are a good excuse to get dressed up. Ellerslie itself is made up of the main building and annexes, and has lovely big common rooms so you can get to meet others easily.

Henry Price is right on campus, so it’s not far to go to lectures, walk into town or get to the shops and cafés in Hyde Park. Plus, when the sun is out, the whole of Woodhouse Moor (known as Hyde Park, right opposite the halls) almost magically becomes filled with student sun-seekers and it's practically your back garden if you're living at HP.

Leodis is one of the biggest residences, near campus and some of the other halls too. Nearly all of the rooms are ensuite, and it’s all lovely and modern inside. Leodis attracts a mix of people: some of the blocks tend to be specifically for postgrads or international students, and some for UK undergrads so there’s a great variety of people to get to know.

Just over the road from the engineering departments, the new St Mark's is currently under construction and is due for completion September 2013. For postgraduate students only.

Sentinel Towers is only 15 minutes walk from campus and 20 minutes from the city centre. It offers quiet and peaceful living, and is particularly popular with those who prefer a quiet study environment, postgrads and medics as it's so close to the hospital. The rooms themselves are ensuite and all have internet access.

Clarence Dock is great for students who want to experience the city lifestyle. There’s a huge bar on site where there’s always stuff going on like big-screen sports, film evenings and events put on by the student-led Residents' Committee. The area around Clarence Dock has recently been redeveloped too, so now there's a Tesco Metro, casino and pizza express right nearby.

The Tannery is a great hall just 15 minutes walk from the city centre and some great facilities. It's next to some other halls, so there's always loads of students about, and some interesting takeaways and the Fox & Newt Pub is right down the road.

Oxley looks pretty grand at first glance, as the main hall is just like a manor house – it’s beautiful! Not all the bedrooms are in the main house, instead there are purpose built blocks surrounding it in the green grounds. There’s also a bar onsite, a new gym, it’s right next to the Uni’s outdoor sporting facilities, Headingley, and there's a bus that runs you straight into town.

Monty B is right next to campus and the city centre, so you can get everywhere walking (and therefore saving you a few quid on a bus pass). The rooms are slightly bigger than a lot of the other residences, and there are some blocks for students wanting a quieter life. For those of you who don’t though, there’s a brand new social space outside which has already held host to an awesome Halloween party this year.

James Baillie is between Headingley and Hyde Park which means you have the best of all the student bars, shops and cafes all within walking distance, as well as being only a short walk away from campus. Plus all the buses at the end of the road get you straight into town in about 10 minutes. The rooms themselves are nearly all ensuite, but there are some cluster flats (meaning that you share a bathroom with two others) and also some studio flats.
NHC is tucked away near the bottom of the James Baillie site and so is right between the student areas of Headingley and Hyde Park. It’s a bit of a bargain when it comes down to accommodation, as although it’s not the most modern, you’ve got a great location, you’re in a beautiful old build house, with some huge rooms and some of the rooms even have a balcony.

Lupton’s location couldn’t be better as it's right in the middle of student-central, Headingley. There’s a parade of shops and restaurants right by the site, including the favourites of Pizza Express, KFC, Gregg’s, Sainsbury's and the beloved Wilkinsons. All this plus pubs in every direction and the major bus routes to take you straight into uni & the city centre and back.

Tucked away in Kirkstall, Grayson Heights is popular with families and post-graduates. This hall offers you a peaceful home environment, yet with all the conveniences of the Kirkstall shops and leisure facilities on your doorstep. It's not as close to the University as some of the other residences, but it's easy to reach the campus by bus, cycle or walking, and Headingley train station is only a 10 minute away walk too.
