Conservation Volunteers

About Us

We aim to conserve the natural environment in and around Leeds by conducting conservation work alongside local initiatives. This mainly involves Woodland management and you could be doing anything from cutting down invasive trees, to planting native flowers/trees, to path construction or shrub clearance.

But of course it's not all work!

The society’s just as much about getting to meet a really great bunch of wonderful people, and so we also hold regular socials. These involve Bowling, Ice Skating or a meal out.

So by joining this Society you can get:

  • Three week-end tasks a month to locations such as Woodhouse Ridge, Kirkstall Nature Reserve, Otley Chevin, Gledhow Valley, Rodley Nature Reserve.
  • Weekly work on our allotted area of Woodhouse Ridge
  • 2 weekend trips away to either the Peak District, Yorkshire Dales or a small private Forest in Ripon
  • Bimonthly socials to have a great time with great people
