Welcome to the Leeds University Women’s Tennis page!
Women's tennis is bigger and better than ever this year at Leeds Uni. We have 3 teams competing in the BUCS leagues - 2 teams competing in the first division and a recently formed third team. Women’s Tennis have been very successful in the last couple of years, being nominated twice for the University’s “Team of the Year” award.
THE TEAMS
Our 3 teams compete in the BUCS league and we play Varsity, Christie cup and the Bucs Knock out cup.
The 1st and 2nd teams train and play home games at Batley Tennis Centre. Training is with our coach Imogen Wyatt at 8.30 - 10:30pm on Mondays. We also have 2 fitness sessions per week with the University fitness coach.
The third team trains and plays matches on the courts in Hyde Park and is coached by a University coaching Scholar. Fitness sessions for 3rd team members are available but only optional.
SOCIAL TENNIS
Social tennis is offered on a Saturday 12 - 4 on the courts in Hyde Park which is joined with the men's Tennis and gives people of all standards the opportunity to play some friendly matches and meet new people. Committee and squad members will join in each week and assess levels of improvement.
We also have Improvers session once a week which is taken by a Coaching Scholar. This gives people of all standards the opportunity to get some extra coaching and practice.
MEMBERSHIP
1st & 2nd Team Membership - £60 a semester
3rd Team Membership - £40 a semester
Improvers Tennis Membership - £30 a semester
Social Membership - £20 a semester
SOCIALS
Every Wednesday we have socials with the Men’s tennis teams. We have deals with various bars and clubs in Leeds so the nights are always eventful and not to be missed!
