Welcome to the official website of the University of Leeds Volleyball Club

The University of Leeds’s most international student club is experiencing its most successful year and we want you to be involved! Whether you have International squad experience, played for a LUUVC team last season, or you have never played a game in your life but want to give it a go, we would like to welcome you into the club this year.

Not sure about joining? Want to check out a training session?

Our taster sessions, will give you a chance to try out the sport if you’ve never played before or show off your skills to us if you’re a pro! We cover some of the basic skills of volleyball, showing you how good a sport this is! Each session runs in the first two weeks of each semester on Friday 5-7pm at the Gryphon Sports Centre. Entry is Only £5 (Free for Edge** members).

 

   

 

 

We welcome players from all levels and backgrounds.

1st Team Practice:                                  Sunday 6:00-8:00pm

1st Team Training:                                  Monday 6:00-8:00pm

1st Team Strength & Conditioning:     Thursday 7:00-8:00pm

 

Recreational Practice:                           Monday 12:00-1:00pm

Beginner Training:                                 Friday 5:00-7:00pm

Intermediate Training:                           Friday 5:00-7:00pm

 

Additional court time can be booked on an as requested basis.

Our Training Location

Volleyball Club uses state-of-the-art facilities at the newly refurbished Gryphon Sports Centre. Changing rooms and lockers are also available.

 

The Gryphon Sports Centre is located on the same site as the Business School on Woodsley Road:

Memberships explained

Our Beginners and Intermediate membership is £35** this covers your insurance and gives you access to our Friday and weekend training sessions. Experienced members from our first team will be at these sessions to assist you in developing and learning new skills and to have a great time!

 

Our Squad membership is £85** for new members this covers your insurance, travel costs, your tournament fees, and gives you access to both our Monday, Friday and weekend training sessions. At our Monday training sessions, our experienced coaches' provide you with the highest quality of Gryphon Status training to develop your skills in competing in events around the country. You need to be of an advanced level to attend the Monday training session. If you would like to attend an advanced training session please contact our Club President for more details. Harry (Club President) harryhoblyn@googlemail.com. Your players kit will cost additional at £22 for an O'Neills brand numbered shirt.

 

**You will need an Edge Sports Pass to access the Gryphon Sports Centre (or £5 at the turnstyle), as the LUU Volleyball Club is a student club and does not pay to use the facilities. Any monies collected from membership and entry fees is re-invested into the club for the benefit of all our members. All committee members are volunteers and receive no salary for their work.

If you need help regarding your club and society, the Development Coordinators, who work in the Union's ARC (the Activities and Resource Centre), provide support, advice and help with all student activities.
