Safety Information

Trip Safety

Trip safety is of huge importance. It is essential that as the organiser of a trip you are aware of your responsibilities. You must complete a trip booking form no less than three weeks before the commencement of the trip.

Risk assessment must be carried out in most cases.  You can find more information on risk assessment further down this page.

Social Guidelines

All activity groups must adhere to the attached social guidelines.  Any breaches that we are made aware of will be investigated and penalties applied accordingly.

Risk Assessment

A risk assessment is a careful examination of what could cause harm to people so that you can weigh up whether you have taken enough precautions or should do more to prevent harm.

Workers and others have a right to be protected from harm caused by a failure to take reasonable control measures.

We offer guidance on completing risk assessments, as well as the actual risk assessment forms.

The duty of care document below should also be read in conjunction with the risk assessment documentation as this helps explain what you are responsible for as a committee member or organiser.

Accident and incident reporting

If you have an accident or witness a potentially dangerous incident please let us know.

Please print out, complete and hand in the form below to the Student Activities Safety Coordinator - Geoff Banks.  Alternatively email him here g.banks@leeds.ac.uk

No matter how insignificant the incident it is important that you make us aware to avoid the same thing happening again or in case there are problems for the person who was injured later on.

Booking the LUU Bus and Driver Policy

Acting as an authorised driver is a great responsibility and it is important that you understand the seriousness of the role before undertaking it.

You must read the driver policy document and complete an authorised driver application form before undertaking any driving role as a part of LUU.  In addition, if you are using your own vehicle you must also complete a private vehicle use form.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding these forms, please contact Geoff Banks, Student Activities Manager.

If you need help regarding your club and society, the Development Coordinators, who work in the Union's ARC (the Activities and Resource Centre), provide support, advice and help with all student activities.
