Residents' Committees

Lyddon Hall

About Us

Every hall has a Residents' Committee who is responsible for running loads of different events so that you can all get to know each other and have a great year. The committee is what you make it, and at Lyddon last year, the committee organised an amazing Masquerade Ball and some formal dinners with the Ellerslie Committee (another on campus hall). As part of the committee, you could also recruit and enter teams to take part in the the Inter-Hall Sports Competition where all halls compete against each other in football, netball, cricket and squash to name but a few, to see who is the best.

Located in the heart of campus, Lyddon consists of a large main hall and several Victorian houses. Facilities include a spacious common room with TV, pool table and air hockey machine, and a traditional library with grand piano.

Meet your 2011/12 Committee:

President: Christopher Burr

The President is there to help everyone in their hall have a great year by representing them at LUU forums and ensuring that the Residents’ Committee is running smoothly. This will include liaising with residence staff and wardens, as well as LUU Staff and the executive officers and keeping you informed of all events and campaigns.

Vice-President Treasurer: Jack Kenning

Prepares and manages the JCR budget, overseeing the income and expenditure throughout the year ensuring money is spent in the best way possible for students, and keeps the committee, residents, Students’ Union and University updated about the accounts.

Communications Officer: Alice Tweddell

Communicates information from the committee and Students’ Union, getting messages out to everyone else living in your residence, through as many ways as possible such as through Facebook, e-mails and producing posters.

Events officer: Danielle Stern

The Events officer organises events that everyone living in your residence can enjoy.

Sports Captain: Laura Summers

Organises and enters sports teams into the Inter-Hall Sports Cup and liaises with the treasurer about purchasing team kits. See how your team are doing here.

Green Rep: Izzy Rogers

Helps you and your neighbours to reduce your impact on the environment as well as raising awareness and promoting campaigns and initiatives in the community.
