Residents' Committees

Lupton

About Us

Last year, the committee organised loads of regular events that took place in Headingley and the City Centre. The year finished off with a bang with LuptonFest, a day of inflatable fun followed by a special Lupton Fruity. What the committee does is totally up to the people who are involved, so it's up to you to come up with ideas for events that everyone can join in with. If you're the sporty type then you can get involved in the Inter-Hall Sports Competition, where you'll get to play teams made up of residents from other halls to battle it out to determine which hall is the best! It is up to the committee to recruit and enter the teams so you'll hear about how to get involved in them once the committees have been recruited.

Set in extensive grounds, in the middle of the popular student area of Headingley, Lupton is very convenient for local amenities - with a supermarket and a great range of cafes, bars and restaurants to choose from.

Meet your 2011/12 Committee:

President: Stephen Haughey

The President is there to help everyone in their hall have a great year by representing them at LUU forums and ensuring that the Residents’ Committee is running smoothly. This will include liaising with residence staff and wardens, as well as LUU Staff and the executive officers and keeping you informed of all events and campaigns.

Vice-President Treasurer: Hannah James

Prepares and manages the JCR budget, overseeing the income and expenditure throughout the year ensuring money is spent in the best way possible for students, and keeps the committee, residents, Students’ Union and University updated about the accounts.

Communications Officer: Rachel Lucas

Communicates information from the committee and Students’ Union, getting messages out to everyone else living in your residence, through as many ways as possible such as through Facebook, e-mails and producing posters.

Events Officer: Jessica Garrington

The Events officer organises events that everyone living in your residence can enjoy.

Sports Captain: Edward McAlone

Organises and enters sports teams into the Inter-Hall Sports Cup and liaises with the treasurer about purchasing team kits. See how your team are doing here.

Green Rep: Boglarka Szabo

Helps you and your neighbours to reduce your impact on the environment as well as raising awareness and promoting campaigns and initiatives in the community.
