Residents' Committees

Devonshire Hall

About Us

At Devonshire Hall, the Residents' Committee is called the JCR. There is a long tradition at Dev of formal events including a Winter Ball and the annual Summer Ball.

If you're the sporty type then you can get involved in the Inter-Hall Sports Competition, where you'll get to play teams made up of residents from other halls to battle it out to determine which hall is the sportiest! It is up to the committee to recruit and enter the teams so you'll hear about how to get involved in them once the committee has been recruited. See how your team are doing here.

Music and Drama play a large part of life at Dev throughout the year. There are many different ensembles on offer ranging from jazz groups to orchestras and choirs. There are also regular concerts and performance opportunities such as open mic nights, informal afternoon concerts and the main Winter and Easter concerts which are unique to Dev and you only need to be a resident of the hall to participate.

If you lean more towards Drama then there will be the opportunity to perform and direct plays and sketches over the course of the year.

Each year the Hall Music and Drama Society put on a musical which draws together the talents of many indiviuals. Even if you do not feel you have the skills required to be involved with the music or acting there is always a need for help backstage in stage managing, costume, make-up, producing and much more!

Traditional hall in an impressive historic building, with a wide range of facilities - particularly for the musically inclined. Devonshire encourages active participation in its social calendar.
