Comedy Society

About Us

LUU Comedy Society is a new society for people who are interested in performing/watching sketch and/or stand-up comedy. Membership to the Comedy Society gives you discounted entry to Gag Hole, all of The Leeds Tealights’ events, and socials to various comedy nights in Leeds.

Gag Hole is a stand-up night which runs monthly (or thereabouts) at the Union, featuring a number of top name stand-ups, as well as showcasing new talent from all over the place. Past acts include Jonny Sweet, Chris Martin, Nick Helm, Alex Zane and many more.

The Leeds Tealights is now in its seventh year, and is the sketch group affiliated with LUU Comedy Society. The Tealights is recast each year and the group writes, performs and produces original sketch comedy shows each term, working towards performing a show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August. For information on this year's Tealights, see: www.leedstealights.co.uk

Our newest night is Platform, a new material night, which hosts a cocktail of improv, sketch and stand up. As well as all this, membership to Comedy Society means you can book rehearsal spaces to start your own comedy groups, get involved in comedy with Leeds Student Radio and meet other people who just LOVE laughing.
