BPM - Electronic Music and DJ Society

About Us

BPM - Leeds University Electronic Music and DJ Society

Calling all electronic music lovers! If its House, Funk, Breaks, Electro, Techno, Dubstep, Hip Hop, Drum and Bass or just raving it up to the sounds of a big bassline that you're into then BPM is for you! Whether its through our DJ competitions, Production sessions, DJ lessons or just plain and simple fun at our socials we are sure that BPM can provide!

Our aim is to give like-minded people a place to network and share sounds and tastes, and to provide a resource to keep you informed of the what's what and what's not in Leeds' vibrant and diverse music scene.

Membership for the entire academic year is just a humble £3.

For that £3 you will receive:

  • offers for discounted and guestlist entry to many of Leeds' most popular club nights (Currently System, Fullfat and Hangar; further discussions with more big players TBC)
  • free entry to any socials and club nights that we hold
  • the ability to attend our DJ and Production lessons (which also carry a modest fee, all proceeds go back into improving the services we offer)
  • the ability to promote yourself and your music through the BPM SOUNDCLOUD GROUP to attract fresh listeners and up your plays/downloads
  • the chance to play at our open deck socials and any house/halls parties that we're asked to cater for

DJ LESSONS - These will take place in Pulse on Fridays before the doors open for Fruity, the union have very kindly offered to accomodate us free of charge meaning the small fee we charge for the lesson from each member will go direct to the society unlike last year; THANKS LUU!

So if you want to have a crack at what is, lets face it, one of the coolest hobbies going, come and learn the basics of music structure, equipment navigation, mixing, and set-building on pro-level equipment and a proper club system!!

Please contact us using the email at the top right hand side of this page if you have any further enquiries and a member of the committee will get back to you.

PRODUCTION LESSIONS - We are unsure yet exactly what form these lessons will take. We've been offered by a couple of our members who are signed artists to run the lessons (which, like the DJ lessons will carry a small additional fee that goes straight back into the society) and, based on demand at the start of the year will decide how to run things. Please register your interest on the facebook Page

HOUSE PARTIES - Why not let us furnish you with sounds at your next house/halls party? We can provide equipment, a soundsystem big enough for a medium size space (more than enough for the biggest of halls' communal areas) and DJs to suit your tases and desires. It will only cost you what it costs us so a bit of a contribution to travel costs and a few drinks for the performers, much less than hiring your own gear from a pro-supplies store. email us on the link at the top of this page for enquiries. This is a members only service, but for £3 for the whole year, it's an absolute bargain!
