Windsurfing
About Us
Beginners! We love you! Intermediate and Advanced Windsurfers! We love you too! Instructors! We really love you!
We really do welcome all abilities. We have qualified instructors in the club and at our windsurfing venues that provide instruction for all if you fancy improving your skills, or you can just play around and do your own thing. We have a large number of beginners join every year so don’t be scared to give it a try…
Leeds Based Windsurfing
“We’re not anywhere near the sea!” I hear you cry. It’s alright, we still manage to go windsurfing often at a local place called Pugneys Country Park. It’s down near Wakefield, easy to get to and great for those of all abilities, especially beginners. There’s even a little café to grab a hot drink from after coming off the water (hallelujah!).
When do we go? Normally on Sundays but if there is demand we can organise more sessions during the week for our keen bees. While members are encouraged to go whenever they want, if it’s a club session it is recommended you sign up for it on the official sign up link (normally at the bottom of this page) or contact a committee member.
We also do a number of club socials ranging from all you can eat meals, to Otley runs. For info on our next social check out the dates at the bottom of the page, they're fun to come to and you meet some really nice people. The Club has also been involved with Action to run volunteering sessions with local schools teaching children to windsurf which is really rewarding so if you feel like giving it a try then check out the details and link at the bottom of the page, or contact our Charities Officer Fiona for details.
SWA Events and Trips
The Windsurfing Club will be travelling all over the UK to go to the various events held by the Student Windsurfing Association (SWA) which organises mass events with all the student windsurf clubs (over 50!) around the country. This means we have loads of events across the UK (Nottingham Pondlife, Cardiff Wave and Bristol Wet Dream to name but a few) that involve a weekend of windsurfing, fancy dress and partying. Check them out and the other stuff the SWA do at
www.studentwindsurfing.co.uk/
The SWA weekends are open to EVERYONE and are awesome, so whether you simply fancy checking out what windsurfing is about or can consistently pull off flat water front loops the get involved with the next one
Next SWA Event...

21st-23rd of October, an epic weekend away in Bude, down in Cornwall. The largest student windsurfing event of the year, one of the most fun trips ever and one of the top ten things to do before you die!
Yes it is that good. At the past AK events Leeds Windsurfing club has represented itself well with style if not grace, both on and off the water. Tickets are normally available in september so keep an eye open for more info.
Dahab Trip
This year the windsurfing club organised a summer trip to sunny Dahab, a beautiful part of Egypt that's perfect for a spot of winsurfing, and it went so well we fancy doing it again! Check out some of the photos from it below.
GIVE IT A GO! Ours is on the 30th October, book yourself a place now!

Action Windsurfing
Last year we started a project to take kids from the local commuity windsurfing and this year we hope to continue our good work. It's fun, rewarding, and you can even put it on your CV! If you're interested take a gander at the action page
