General Interest Groups

LGBT stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender. The aim of our society is to make your time at university as fun and enjoyable as possible. We are one of the most socially active societies within Leeds University Union (LUU) and anyone is welcome to join and come along to our events. LGBT society provides its members with a great opportunity to reach out and explore the LGBT community of Leeds and beyond.

Every weekday of term we hold Coffee Hour, 12pm - 2pm upstairs in the union building in Meeting Room 2. Here, you'll be served a range of drinks from our sexy committee and get the chance to make new friends. If however you find yourself in a horrible situation where you are not able to get to coffee, or day time socialising just isn’t enough we have a very busy social calendar packed with an array of exciting events throughout the year. From regular club nights, to film screening, workshops, debates and even trips to other cities. Every year we also host the LGBT Ball, an annual evening of entertainment, food and drink for our society members - check out our Facebook Group for photos from last years Ball!

We are also are here to provide support and act as a welfare body to LGBT students. Whether you want to talk about LGBT matters or anything else our committee runs with five active Welfare Officers, who alongside the rest of the committee are here to run Office Hours; time set aside for you to come and chat about anything in confidence.
