About Us

Welcome to Food Society!

Food Society is a must-join for anyone who loves good food! You don't have to be able to cook, you just need to be interested in food! Everyone is welcome!
 
What do we do?
  • Visit the best of Leeds' restaurants: Every three weeks we visit a new restaurant, sampling a variety of cuisines at restaurants that won't break the bank
  • Go to food festivals: See the upcoming events!
  • Food tasting
  • Cooking demonstrations and classes

Thursday 26th January 2012: Bretts Fish & Chips


A welcome back social rather than a full blown meal! Meet at Bretts Fish and Chips in Headingley (opp Headingley Taps pub) for 7pm. Independent Newspaper voted Bretts as one of the top ten fish and chippys in the UK! Haddock and chips - approx £5. Wear warm clothes as we will get takeaway and eat outside on the benches! (dont worry about rain as it is covered). Afterwards we will go and warm up with a few drinks at a pub / bar. Thursday 2nd February 2012: Meal: Cuba Viva (Tapas)

Winner of Best World Cuisine in the “Oliver Awards” 2009 & 2011, Viva Cuba offers excellent tapas, authentic Cuban cocktails and great tasting Spanish and South American wines. Meal: £15. Drinks seperate. Tip paid by society. The restaurant will provide us with a vast selection of meat, fish and vegetarian tapas for us all to share – similar to previous meals at Hansa’s and The Olive Tree. http://www.vivacubaleeds.co.uk/menu/index.html. 8.15pm @ restaurant OR 7.45pm @ Parkinson steps then taxi to the restaurant (only time they take bookings!
