Change Ringers
About Us
Change ringing, or bellringing, is the traditional English activity of ringing church bells.
Whether you are an accomplished bellringer or a complete novice wanting to try something new, different and challenging, LUSCR is the society for you. We are a small society with ringers of a range of ages and abilities, and are always happy to take on beginners.
We practice on a Monday evening between 7.30 and 9pm at St Matthias Church, Burley, usually followed by a trip to the pub. Once you are competent and ringing with the rest of the band you can begin ringing on Sunday mornings, between 9.45 and 10am.
While our main purpose is ringing for Sunday services you do not need to be religious to enjoy this hobby. Neither do you need to be mathematical, musical, old or any of the many stereotypes you may typically associate with ringing!
In 2008 we celebrated our 50th year as a society, with an action packed weekend including our annual dinner, as well as hosting the annual NUA, a gathering for university bellringing societies from across the north of England. Along with this years 53nd Annual Dinner and the NUA, this year hosted by Birmingham, there will be a variety of social events including pub crawls, parties and weekends away, offering the opportunity to meet other ringers from across the country!
If you are a bellringer, want to learn, or simply want some more information please contact us.
