About Us

 Karibu!

Welcome, to the East AfricanSociety!

Bringing East African culture, current affairs and community to Leeds

We are a young society, started in 2009 and our main focus is to accommodate students both of East African origin and those who have an interest in East Africa and provide you with the FULL Leeds East African experience.

Events we’ve held…

  • Social @ Vodka Rev
  • Leeds East African Experience: Ponyoka na kaFresher
  • LEASOC Christmas & Independence Day Dinner
  • Tribal Instinct Fashion Show, raising money for Ket Wangi Orphanage in Kisumu, Kenya  (see: www.tribalinstinct.org )
  • Trip to Xscape: “The ultimate entertainment destination”

What to expect…

We give back

This year the East African society will be focusing on giving back to charities back home by holding more events such as Tribal Instinct II. Also raising awareness of current affairs through debates and working more in conjunction with other societies within the University.

Love to Party?... So do we!

We will be hosting several formal AND informal events and get-togethers throughout the year from to club nights to celebrating Independence Days and other chances to meet with up friends, relax and have a good time!

Why join...

It’s easy to get lost in University life; we are here to give you a sense of community, FUN TIMES and a chance to get involved in giving back to different causes.
