About Us
Hello and Welcome to the History Society!
Limited teaching time means that the History Society provides a great way for history students to meet each other, whilst also providing a chance for those interested in history to meet like-minded students. We are one of the bigger societies at Leeds University, and have a wide array of events held throughout the year. To join, a fee of £25 is required for membership lasting the entirety of your University life, with an alternative option of a £10 payment per year.
This year we are aiming to organise at least one large social a month, where members of the society will be provided with discounted entry and drinks to various club nights in Leeds. These socials are always popular, and are a great way for you to meet new people. Our first social has been organised during Freshers Week - Thursday 22nd September, in the Faverhsam Pub, where there are free drinks awaiting you.
We also hold an annual Christmas Ball which is always popular. Members of the History Society are treated to discounted tickets, and receive alcohol, a delicious three course meal and enjoy music from a live band and a DJ. We have previously held the Ball at the Queen's Hotel - a luxurious location, and have followed different themes, including masquerade themes.
We have a History Department football team, which has been playing well for the previous few years. If you are interested in trying out, email us, and we will inform you of any details.
We also hold plenty of other events, including film nights, discounted tickets to the cinema, book sales and an annual holiday. We have recently returned from Berlin, and have previously visited Budapest and Rome.
