Welcome to Leeds University's Aviation Society (AvSoc)!

The main aims for AvSoc over the coming year are to give you an insight into the aviation industry and improve your career opportunities by providing various trips and guest speakers. 

For those who already have their licenses or those who would like a try at flying (costs excluded) we will organize car pools from Leeds University to the Sherburn Aeroclub where you can not only fly your aircraft but meet lots of other pilots. For those who simply have an interest in aeroplanes, you can come along to the Aeroclub as well, as a few aircraft engineering technicians work there or you can simply enjoy the company of people who are likeminded at our monthly get togethers.

This society has been standing now for quite a while and it’s clear that the aviation society is always up for having the best of times whether on a night out during bar crawls or during the day with paintballing! We offer a wide range of things to do for you, like:

- Big drunken events such as a freshers AvSoc social, as well as a Christmas and end of term social,

- Get togethers for popular football/rugby matches in pubs,

- Nights out to popular clubs in town,

- Go-karting, paintballing, bowling, laserquest and if demand is good enough, Alton Towers (theme park),

- Dinners/lunches at a very good price,

- And fancy dress Otley Runs of course (always a good occasion for guys and girls get out their hot pilots/air hostesses outfits!),

After all, we are the aviation society, we are cool and fun, we love excess and flying high!

All our members will be able to receive sponsorship deals from the library pub, and also get a Society Voodoo card; giving 2-4-1 entry, £1s off, Q-jumps etc to their events and other great offers from local companies http://www.voodooevents.co.uk/affiliates

You can also use the Merlin simulator for free during our sessions. But most importantly AvSoc is a great way to get to know lots of people from the various years of the AvTec courses, as well as other students from Leeds Uni who are just 'plane' interested in Aviation and having a laugh!
