Departmental Groups

Earth Sciences (RocSoc)

About Us

RocSoc is the departmental society for the Earth Sciences in the School of Earth and Environment.

It is a student run society and is operated this year by a committee of 10 dedicated 2nd and 3rd year students who are all studying full-time undergraduate degrees within the department.

Our main events include a legendary freshers trip to Whitby, Christmas Party and Summer Ball, Otley runs, fortnightly talks from outside speakers and museum visits.

Our members also enjoy preferential discounts of 15% at Millets and Blacks shops in Leeds

We have weekly socials (Location TBC) and monthly club nights at varying locations around Leeds.

This year new members can purchase membership and a Whitby place for the dicounted price of £50. Current members can purchase a Whitby place for £36. Freshers have priority on the trip but tickets will be opened up to everyone after freshers week. Standard lifetime membership is still availiable at the normal price of £20.

Find us on Facebook, where we have a RocSoc group or on our official webstie at; www.rocsoc-leeds.co.uk

Do you have the talent to represent Clubs and Societies?

If you need help regarding your club and society, the Development Coordinators, who work in the Union's ARC (the Activities and Resource Centre), provide support, advice and help with all student activities. Each Development Coordinator is responsible for a different group of activities. Find out who your Development Coordinator is!
