Departmental Groups

Hello and welcome to the Geography Society (Geog-Soc) webpage!

We are the departmental society for students involved in the School of Geography at Leeds University. Our aim is to allow students to get to know each other that little bit better whilst having the best time possible at University in the process, We want to make your experience at Leeds University unforgettable!

This year we're making a lot of new changes but keeping the best of last year too, so please take a look below:

Socials and trips

Socials will be running all-year round including the Original Oak BBQ Social, the Halloween Otley Run (best fancy dress costume gets an exclusive Geog-Soc prize!), the Pub Quiz Curry Night and many more...

This year we'll be repeating the Amsterdam end of exams holiday; taking over 100 of you lovely Geographers out to Amsterdam to blow-off all that January exams stress and get to know your fellow Geographer! We'll also be introducing a few new trips!

At the end of every year we also throw the GeogSoc ball; a climax to the year and a chance to get dressed up and celebrate with some etiquette with your friends including a 3 course meal, live band and announcement of the next year's committee 

Sports

GeogSoc has many teams in the University’s intra-mural league. These include an 11 a-side football team, 5 a-side football teams for girls and boys, mixed indoor hockey and netball. These are a great chance to play sport in a competitive yet fun environment. There will also be kit available to purchase for each team.

Membership also gets you our exclusive GeogSoc card - entitling you to the discounts our committee members have been working  to get you all Summer. These range from fast food takeaways, free/discount entry to clubs and even discount fancy dress costumes!
