About Us

The French Society is a group of students studying French, and/or lovers of all things French. It offers a way for students to socialise outside of lectures and to be involved with different aspects of French culture. We organise a variety of different socials: from a 'café et croissants' afternoon to regular organised nights out. We have good links with SLAP Soc and German Soc so we will be running socials with them!

French Soc offer a weekend trip to Paris with Invasion Events which is scheduled in Reading Week - it's only £118 per person with a £40 deposit! This includes coach transport to and from Paris, accomodation in the centre of Paris and nightclub entry! You can't miss out so start saving now!
 
We are holding a 'Meet and Greet' session for  French, German and SLAP societies on 23rd September for you all to get to know the committees and of course each other! Follow this link for more details:

The Modern Languages Intro Party is the place to be on Tuesday 27th September, meet at The Terrace at 8pm (Union Building) and then to The Faversham until 3am. It is the perfect place to get to know everyone even more! See the link below for more details:

We hope this year to promote French cinema, French conversation, French cuisine, and all other things French!
 
French Soc also offers a wide array of sports, such as 11 a side football for the boys (proudly sporting the pink and black of French Soc FC at Weetwood pitches) as well as 5-a-side football (males and females separately), netball, hockey, tennis, badminton and many others I’ve no doubt forgotten to mention!
