Dance Groups

Who are we?

Dance Exposé is Leeds University’s most dynamic dance and performance society comprising of 40-50 students with the ability to perform all different styles and types of dance whether it be ballet, breakdance, Irish or anything else! Dance Exposé is a student run dance society that was formed in 2002 and will be celebrating their tenth birthday this year! The society is open to girls and guys, from any year, whether they have experience or not, as long as they share our passion for dance!

What can you do with us?

What is unique about our society is that it is run entirely by members. We are the ONLY dance society that holds their own performances at Leeds University outside of the general annual LUU dance show. Every member has the opportunity to choreograph and try new styles, and we all contribute to the running of the show including promotion, staging, lighting and costumes. We rehearse regularly in the Union, producing an annual weeklong sell out show in the Riley Smith Hall. Exposé attracts sell-out audiences of around 400 each of the four nights. Leading up to our annual show, we host a smaller event in November called ”Exposed” where we perform to an audience of about 200 with the aim to raise awareness of Exposé as a society and give an idea of what audiences can expect in the February show. Dance Exposé don’t just perform at their exclusive events, this year alone we performed at internal events such as the RAG Fashion Show, SMS Cabaret Performance and Fundraisers for Black History Month and Children In Need, as well as professional external events at Hi-fi nightclub and other charity fundraisers so expect to be busy with us!

Socials

We are renowned for holding the most wild and fun socials all year long, taking over the dance floors on our nights out, as well organising BBQs, meals, numerous nights at Fruity and hopefully a trip away this year! Dance Exposé is an exceptionally close and friendly society, and everyone involved has become the best of friends. Don't forget your fancy dress as it will definitely be needed!

Next year's plans

Plans for next year’s show are already underway, and we are determined to make the next show better than ever! As Britain will be hosting the Olympics we will be basing our show on the idea of travelling around the world. We hope to call the main show “Passport To Dance” and encompass all our different styles of dancing in a creative and modern way. This is an opportunity that is not to be missed!
