Dance Groups

Welcome to the Leeds University Union Ballet Society. We are a society open to all with an interest in ballet, whether you wish to improve your technique or just have fun whilst keeping fit and making new friends. We cater for all standards, from complete beginners to an advanced level. 

We run four separate classes once a week:

BEGINNERS 
INTERMEDIATE 1 - Grades 3/4
INTERMEDIATE 2 - Grades 5/6
ADVANCED - Grades 7/8+
(or equivalent)

Our classes take place in the dance studio at Stage@Leeds, and are run by trained teachers. It is up to you which class you join. Beginners is recommended for those that have never tried ballet before and for those who have taken a break and want to get back in to ballet. Intermediate 1 is for grades 3/4, Intermediate 2 is for grades 5/6, and Advanced for those who have reached at least a grade 7/8 standard or equivalent.

The Ballet Society takes part in the LUU Dance Show at the end of the Easter term. This is a really great way to get involved in the Union, do something a bit different and meet people from all the other dance societies. You don't have to take part in the dance show if you don't want to, it's your choice.

Membership costs £45 for the entire year (22 lessons), which works out at just over £2 a lesson, bargain!

Places on classes are given on a first come first served basis, and our classes will fill up! So to ensure a place make sure you turn up early to the Freshers Fair to sign up. Unfortunately we are unable to reserve places ahead of the term. However if you don't manage to get into a suitable class at the beginning of term, we do have waiting lists which move quickly, so please sign up anyway! 

PLEASE DO NOT BUY MEMBERSHIP UNLESS YOU ARE CONFIRMED ON ONE OF OUR CLASS LISTS.

Buy them from this page, then email hy09as@leeds.ac.uk with the name you would like on the front and the size that you would like.

• Extra Large (chest 48”)

Orders must be made by Sunday 12^th February so that we can get them in plenty of time for the dance show!
