 "The “U in D” forum is a place that brings together people from different cultural, religious, ethnic, academic, professional and any other backgrounds who want to explore, discover, celebrate and share the unifying features of humanness in its varied manifestations.

Our message and values: despite the many forms, shapes and sizes we appear in, despite different contexts we live in, we are still all part of ONE small planet we have to share; we are still all human; we are still together on this journey of life. Let’s make our planet be in peace and harmony! Let’s embrace our humanity! Lets make this journey be full of beauty, love, joy and respect!

What we do:

* Creative workshops: creative activities that are centred on our message and values, e.g. making posters; singing; playing/listening world music and instruments; art and mandala painting workshops; maybe even performance based workshops; or any other creative activities.
* Debates and discussions on key topics: gatherings where we explore common features among the three dimensions - culture, spirituality and science.
* Documentary and film showings: showcase of documentaries and featured movies that describe and explore the world of cultures, religions, nature and science.
* ‘Unity in Diversity day’: a yearly event through which we would convey our message to broader public and showcase our activities.
* Inspirational guest speakers: invited special guests who will deliver inspirational talks on very important relevant topics to society members and the broader community.


The dimensions of Unity in Diversity:

* Culture: We all come from different communities and nations and speak many languages, but we all express ourselves through the language of feelings and emotions including music and art. Through this dimension we explore how different cultures express, communicate, elaborate and “speak” in a variety of ways while sharing the same feelings of love, joy and beauty etc.


* Spirituality: Is there such thing as soul? Are we something more than just a combination of biological and chemical reactions? Do we have one Creator who is our source and is sustaining the whole universe and mankind? Through this dimension we explore concepts of our subtle existence and perceptions of causes and purposes.


* Science: We encourage scientific thinking and exploration. If we are to understand the cosmos and all its components, it is imperative that we seek to understand the formulae’s which are governing the universe, and ultimately our reality. It is important to respect the views and arguments of all in this field, and to support sincere contemplation in seeking reality.


We are for students, academics, university staff members and others who already share this message as well as for those who are new to these ideas and are interested to learn more about them.

We feel it is important not to only believe in such cultural, scientific and spiritual liberties, but to actually make genuine attempts to understand, to learn, to become inspired and to convey these universal aspects of our humanity. Hence, this is an effort to enable us to think widely, to create respect for one another, and to build unity through the common bonds of our humanity.
