About
All Sports Clubs, Societies and Volunteering Groups are represented together as Activities.
This means that all groups are represented fairly and have equal access to funds and resources.
We have a team of elected students and staff members in place to support student activities.
They’re there to make sure things run smoothly, and to give you someone to turn to if you need help.
Responsibilities
The Activities Executive are a group of student representatives who hail from all categories of Student Activities.They were elected by their category’s committees.
The Activities Exec is chaired by Chris Belcher and overseen by Josh Landy, the full-time Activities Officer.
What are their roles & responsibilities?
- To act as the ruling body over LUU Student Activities
- To hold the Activities Officer and Activities Resource Centre to account
- To decide on the passing or failing of activity groups
- To decide on the closure of activity groups
- To maintain a list of currently ratified activity groups and their assigned categories
- To consult and decide with the Activities Resource Centre on subsidy, loan and emergency funding applications
- To hear appeals from suspended and expelled members of Activity Groups
- To hear appeals from members and committee members regarding complaints against Activities Groups
- To ensure the constitutions and articles of governance regarding Activities are kept up to date
- To campaign on issues relevant to Activities Groups
- To decide the winners of the annual Riley Awards
- To ensure all Activity Groups are accessible, non-discriminatory, student led and democratic
If you’re in an Activity Group or on a committee, contact your rep with anything that you think should be raised at an Activities Executive meeting.
The Activities Executive is here to set the political direction of Student Activities, represent their groups and take some of the big decisions.
All the rep’s will be in touch and holding their own assemblies throughout the year.

Activities Officer
The Activities Officer is a member of the Student Executive.
An elected, sabbatical position, the Activities Officer listens to societies and their members and communicates these views to the Union staff, Union Council and the Board of Trustees.
